Impact Report: Mid-year with the Cropital Community

This year the Cropital Community has reached new farmers while continuing to support returning ones.

This year the Cropital Community has reached new farmers while continuing to support returning ones. You and your fellow investors have been lending a hand in our organization’s efforts to extend financial support to farmers who require much-needed capital to finance their farming business. The Cropital Community continues to support over 200 farmers based in Laguna, Bulacan, and Pampanga while also welcoming farmers from three new areas: Occidental Mindoro, Nueva Ecija, and Western Samar.

Reaching 477 farmers would not be possible without Cropital’s community managers and farmer leaders who, in rain or shine, are out on the field to seek out farmers. Through their hard work, we meet the people behind the farm and learn their stories—both good and the bad. The Cropital Family just wouldn’t be the same without their amazing work!

Last year we launched the Cropital Store which has evolved into a platform that connects producers like Cropital partner farmers to consumers in Metro Manila. This eases the burden from small-scale farmers who are anxious about trying to sell their products. Through the #BuyLocal campaign, our joint effort with Smart and PLDT, we have taken this a step further to not only benefit farmer partners but also communities who were affected by typhoons at the tail end of 2020. As a result, over 10 tons of rice have been donated to help 558 families.

And it doesn’t stop there! Our #BuyLocal partners have helped us build the Sustainability Fund which reinvests a portion of the sales from Cropital Rice to fund smallholder farmers. To date, 20 farmers have already received financing through the Sustainability Fund.
